County Lines: Lives on the Line

This course will unpack the reality of the County Lines machine – organised crime groups that exploit children to sell and distribute drugs and trafficking cash and weapons throughout the country.

You will learn how this ‘business model’ operates to maximise the profitability and reach of the illegal market, how children and young people are seduced and radicalised into it under false promises and pretences, and how the setup of the County Lines system insulates and protects senior gang members.

We will walk through the risks will real stories and genuine insight. Phil Priestley is a former police officer who served for 17 years. Following his time in the police, Phil published two books on the County Lines situation – a guide for children and young people, and a lengthier account designed for parents and professional partners. Phil has investigated drug gangs as a Detective Sergeant and has also worked in a preventative role through Neighbourhood policing. Phil works at Netherhall School one day per week as part of our coordinated offer to reduce the risk around our community.
